The junior ocean rescue competitive sports program is an exciting, unique and one of a kind aquatics experience for kids ages 7 to 17. Our ocean rescue team provides hands on instruction in the following areas in a fun and safe environment:
*CPR & First Aid
*Ocean Rescue Skills
*Emergency Awareness & Preparedness
*Personal & Public Safety
*Physical Conditioning, Speed & Agility
*Swimming Speed & Endurance
*Tournament event skills
*Use of professional lifesaving equipment
*Life Skills & Team Work
The program also lays the foundation for future employment as an ocean rescue lifeguard.
TEAM TRYOUTS
Above average swimming skills are required to participate. Therefore tryouts are held every season to ensure that participants meet the entry level standards for safety purposes.
Tryouts will be held at Gleason Park. Dates and times TBD.

TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS
All junior ocean rescue competitive team members ages 7-17 must pass a swimming proficiency test that includes:
Swim 150 yards (6 lengths) non-stop with a time limit of 5 minutes Tread water for 3 minutes
Swim 5 yards under water
NO EXCEPTIONS
Ages 7 & 8 are required to complete a 50 yard swim in a swimming pool with no time limit
UNIFORMS
Uniform orders will be taken during the first camp.

A parent meeting will be held to discuss uniforms, season training, tournament dates etc. Please contact 321-557-2761 for info on

CAMP PRACTICE INFORMATION
Practices take place at Paradise Beach in Indialantic.
Practice times are from 9am to 11am Monday through Friday of the following weeks:
June 13-17
June 27 - July 1
July 11 - July 15
July 25 - July 29
Space Coast Youth Multi-Sports offers year round swim club practices for those who are not actively swimming before/during competitive junior ocean rescue season. Regular participation in a swim program is highly recommended and is extremely beneficial to a successful junior ocean rescue season.

TOURNAMENTS
Tournaments are held during June, July and August. Tournaments consist of local, Regional and National events and are an exciting and challenging component of junior ocean rescue.
